What we collect, which is very little

Who is responsible

Visiting the website

Nothing is written to or read from your device: no cookies, no local storage, no device fingerprinting. Our hosting provider (Vercel Inc.) processes the technical data any web server needs in order to answer a request, including your IP address, for the purpose of delivering the page and keeping the service secure.

Our visit count

We keep a count of pages viewed, so that we know which pages are useful. It runs on our own server and records, for each page view:

• the path of the page (never the query string);
• the host of the referring website, if you arrived from a link, but never the full referring address, which can carry search terms;
• device category (computer, phone, tablet) and browser family, derived from the request;
• country and region, from our host's IP geolocation;
• campaign parameters, if the link you followed carried them.

The city is not collected. Your IP address is not stored: it goes into a salted hash together with the day, which lets us count distinct visitors within one day without being able to recognise anyone across days or identify anyone at all.

These records are kept in a database operated for the group by Supabase, and we keep them only for as long as they are useful as audience statistics. After the day of your visit, no record in that table can be connected back to you.

If you write to us or use the intake form

The intake form is hosted by ClickUp and opens on that company's website. What you enter there goes to ClickUp as our service provider and reaches us in our case management system. Our e-mail runs on Google Workspace.

What you send us is used to review your enquiry and, if you become a client, to work on your file. In a citizenship file that normally means sharing documents with sworn translators, with archives in Germany and in the Americas, and with the German authority that decides the case, which is the point of the exercise.

Files of this kind often contain data that deserves particular care: records of religion, of persecution, of birth outside marriage. We treat those as confidential and we do not publish anything from a client file without written permission for that specific publication.

Where your data goes

We are a United States company, and the work is done partly in Germany and partly in Brazil. Data you send us will therefore be processed outside the United States, and, in citizenship cases, will be submitted to authorities in Germany. The service providers we use (Vercel, Supabase, Google Workspace, ClickUp) process data for us under their data processing terms, which include the European Commission's standard contractual clauses where those apply.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it, and we will do so unless we are required to keep it. We answer those requests regardless of whether a particular statute obliges us to: the state privacy laws of Florida and California apply to companies far larger than this one, and we would rather not argue about thresholds with someone asking a reasonable question. Where European or United Kingdom data protection law applies to a file, the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection apply as set out in that law, and you may complain to a supervisory authority.

Children

This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Citizenship files often do concern children, because nationality passes by descent; that data comes from the parents, as part of the file.

Changes

If we change how the site measures anything, this page changes with it, in the same edit. It is written that way in the code, with the reason.
